Alex is a partner at magellan IP and a member of the Life Sciences team, with more than 17 years of experience in Intellectual Property, advising companies, universities, and research centers on the protection, management, and valorization of innovation assets.
He is a pharmacist and holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property and Innovation from the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (INPI). His practice is particularly focused on patents and protection strategies for complex life sciences technologies, bridging technical and scientific foundations with business needs and risk management.
Prior to joining magellan IP, Alex led the patents department of the Brazilian office of a multinational Intellectual Property firm for five years, and previously worked as an associate at a Brazilian IP firm.
Before transitioning to Intellectual Property, he accumulated more than four years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including Research and Development in immunology at FIOCRUZ and in the pharmaceutical industry at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2018, he was appointed Deputy Coordinator of the Biotechnology Committee of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI).
